“Disability is not something terrible that needs to be fixed, cured, or made to go away forever. It is a natural part of reality. We ask for acceptance as equal members of society.” From the PSA “Your Daily Dosage of Inspiration” by Cheryl Green and Caitlin Wood.
This is a Public Service Announcement (PSA) about how some disabled people feel about being called inspirational. Some of us feel that it shows that people have lowered expectations for us when they call us inspirational or amazing for going about our daily lives with disabilities.
Disability is not something terrible that needs to be fixed, cured, or made to go away forever. It is a natural part of reality. We ask for acceptance as equal members of society.

I laughed and found your video so refreshing, AND hope you create more content to enlighten, and educate. I have “hidden disabilities” and some learning / processing challenges. I just joined Ollibean, and have been reading / watching everything I find.
Thank you everyone involved with Ollibean!
I loved that video! I may not personally be in a wheelchair, but I can see how being a wheelchair user and getting called “inspiring” all the time would get real old, real fast. (I’m tired of people acting like my autism is so horrible, and so, in THAT way, I guess I can relate. “Aw, you’re AUTISTIC? Awww! Oh, you poor thing! Awww!” also gets real old, real fast. ESPECIALLY right after my autism helped me solve a problem. I’m tired of people acting like being autistic is so sad, and so I can see how it would be for people who are wheelchair users to get told that they inspired somebody just by waking up in the morning.)
Also, on a side note, the music box…the song on it sounds rather familiar to me somehow. Though, somehow, I can’t think of where I heard that song before, or even the title of it. Hmmm…eh, I don’t know. *shrugs* Can anyone help me on this one, please? It’s gonna drive me nuts if I don’t know!
